Keep on Track Program

We are thrilled to announce that Centacare New England North West's pioneering Keep on Track program has received a $1.3 million boost from
the NSW Government, ensuring its continuation for another two years across Tamworth, Armidale, Moree and Narrabri.
Since its launch in July 2023, Keep on Track has made a profound difference in the lives of nearly 250 young people aged 10-17 who were at
risk of entering the criminal justice system. Through more than 3,300 tailored support sessions, the program has:
✅ Reduced criminal behaviour by 70%
✅ Increased school or work participation by 56%
✅ Improved mental health, education, employment engagement, and reduced substance use
✅ Strengthened community safety and cohesion.
At the heart of this impact is a team of local caseworkers who partner with each young person to create a plan that addresses challenges in
education, trauma recovery, and substance use-walking alongside them towards a brighter future.
🗣️ As our CEO, Chris Sheppeard, shared:
"The Keep on Track program is not just a service - it is a pathway to hope, change and lasting impact. By reducing youth crime and
empowering young people to lead their own futures, Keep on Track strengthens entire communities."
We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of the NSW Government, including Premier Chris Minns, Youth Justice Minister Jihad Dib, and
local Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson, Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan, and Aileen McDonald MLC, whose collective belief in
early intervention reaffirms our shared commitment to building resilient, compassionate and just communities.
🩵 Guided by our Catholic social mission, we will continue to walk alongside our young people- championing dignity, potential, and
hope in every step.
